Robert Loeffler, MD, is traveling to the town of Al Ramtha on the Syrian border as part of the Doctors Without Borders program, according to Keys News.
Here are five observations:
1. Currently, Syria is in the middle of a civil war, and the terrorist group Islamic State has invaded the area.
2. In 1999, Dr. Loeffler treated Columbine High School students injured during the school shooting.
3. Dr. Loeffler also traveled to Haiti to treat patients after the 2010 7.3-magnitude earthquake.
4. Dr. Loeffler previously served as the University of Colorado football team’s physician in Boulder.
5. Dr. Loeffler earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver.
