Stephen Southworth, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at North Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Clinic, a multi-office practice with four locations throughout the state. Dr. Southworth specializes in the treatment of osteoarthritis, with an emphasis on ankle, hip and knee replacement.
Prior to joining North Mississippi Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Clinic, he practiced at Holy Cross Orthopaedic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and holds memberships with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association and Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, among other professional societies.
Dr. Southworth earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, where he also did his residency training. He went on to complete an orthopedic fellowship at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, Calif., where he focused on spine and rehabilitation. Outside of his medical education, Dr. Southworth also holds a MBA from Knoxville-based University of Tennessee.
