Alan H. Beyer, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon currently serving as executive medical director of Newport Beach, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute.
Dr. Beyer specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the knee and total knee replacement. He has been involved with Hoag Orthopedics since 1983 and has long focused on helping patients preserve active lifestyles.
He frequently publishes papers and presentations on sports medicine and joint replacement and is currently serving as the principal investigator in two separate clinical research studies.
Dr. Beyer serves as team physician for several area athletic teams and won the 2007 Vin Jorgensen Award for volunteerism at Hoag.
After graduating from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., Dr. Beyer interned at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at New York City-based Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute. He then underwent orthopedic surgery fellowship training at Centinela Hospital Medical Center
