Nationwide Children's Hospital to receive $1M donation from Honda: 5 takeaways

Honda donated $1 million to the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus to establish the Honda Center for Gait Analysis and Mobility Enhancement.

Here are five takeaways:

 

1. The new center will provide comprehensive gait analysis, spine motion analysis, sports performance programs and injury prevention to enhance pediatric mobility.

 

2. The Nationwide Children's Hospital and Honda plan to use the center to promote innovative ways to manage patients with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury and neuromuscular disease.

 

3. The Honda Center for Gait Analysis and Mobility Enhancement will come equipped with advanced video for recording techniques and 3D motion analysis cameras, force platforms and electromyography.

 

4. Recently, Honda pledged $750,000 for the construction of Determination Way, Nationwide Children's Hospital's custom-designed simulated community that provides a real-world environment where rehabilitation patients learn how to mange daily living activities.

 

5. The Nationwide Children's Hospital was named on the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Report's 2016-17 list of "America's Best Children's Hospitals."
