Karl W. Helmond, MD, joined Williamsport, Pa.-based UPMC Susquehanna, according to a North Central PA report.

1. Dr. Helmond performs minimally invasive and open surgeries for muscles, bones and joints.
2. He has more than 29 years of experience in medicine and orthopedics.
3. Dr. Helmond earned his medical degree and completed an orthopedic residency at Newark-based Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.
4. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Helmond is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
