Kevin D. Plancher, MD, MPH, is an orthopedic surgeon and founder of New York City-based Plancher Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
Specializing in anterior cruciate ligament tears and shoulder injuries, Dr. Plancher serves as a U.S. Ski Team physician, Major League Lacrosse league physician and a sports medicine program fellowship director.
He is an orthopedics professor at New York City-based Albert Einstein College of Medicine and helped establish the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' Educational Enhancement Fund.
In 2001, Dr. Plancher founded the nonprofit Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles, which offers health-education seminars for individuals with arthritis, sports injury prevention and rehabilitation services.
Dr. Plancher earned his master's in physiology and doctorate in medicine from Washington, D.C.,-based Georgetown University. He also graduated from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City.
Dr. Plancher underwent postgraduate training at Brigham and Women's Hospital and completed a residency at Harvard University's Combined Orthopaedic Program, both in Boston. He completed fellowships at the Indianapolis-based Indiana Hand Center and the Vail, Colo.-based Steadman Hawkins Clinic.
Dr. Plancher also embarked on a traveling fellowship with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
