Harry McKellop, PhD, has been named the 2018 recipient of the Orthopaedic Institute for Children's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Here are three things to know:
1. The award will be presented at Los Angeles-based OIC's annual Stand for Kids Gala in Santa Monica, Calif., on June 2.
2. Dr. McKellop currently serves as professor emeritus in the orthopedic surgery department of the UCLA Orthopaedic Hospital. He is the former director of the J. Vernon Luck, Sr., Orthopaedic Research Center at OIC in Los Angeles.
3. Dr. McKellop's work led to 12 patents on novel methods to reduce polyethylene wear in orthopedic implants.
