Gregory C. Mallo, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at St. Charles Hospital in East Setauket, N.Y.
Specializing in shoulder reconstruction and arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee, Dr. Mallo is co-chief of St. Charles Hospital's orthopedics department.
As a medical officer in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Mallo performed complex shoulder and knee procedures for Marines and Sailors, including members of the Elite Special Forces and Wounded Warrior Communities.
Dr. Mallo has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in publications such as the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. He co-authored a book chapter on shoulder instability and a review of superior labrum anterior to posterior tears with Matthew Provencher, MD.
Dr. Mallo earned his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Jefferson Medical College and completed a residency at Stony Brook (N.Y) University Health Sciences Center School. He underwent fellowship training at Boston-based Harvard University and The Boston Shoulder Institute.
In 2014, the Arthroscopy Association of North America selected Dr. Mallo for the prestigious Advanced Arthroscopy Traveling Fellowship program.
Dr. Mallo was also an International Visiting Shoulder Fellow at the Alps Surgical Institute in Annecy, France.
