Lew Schon, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at MedStar Health in Baltimore.
Dr. Schon directs MedStar's foot and ankle service and fellowship program. He is also an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Baltimore-based The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
In 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017, Baltimore Magazine named Dr. Schon a Top Doctor for Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Schon was named the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society's president in 2012.
Dr. Schon performed with the Foo Fighters in 2015, after repairing Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl's broken leg, and joined the band on stage again in 2018.
After graduating from Albany (N.Y.) Medical College, Dr. Schon completed an internship at Miami Beach, Fla.-based Mount Sinai Medical Center. He underwent residency training at the New York City-based Hospital for Joint Diseases. He completed fellowships at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
