Matthew S. Bliss, MD, joined the orthopedic surgeon team at the Fort HealthCare Orthopaedic Associates clinic in Fort Atkinson, Wis.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Bliss specializes in joint replacement surgery and treatments for injuries and nerve disorders for the upper extremities — hands, shoulders, elbows and wrists — including sports injuries, arthritis treatment, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and microvascular surgery.
2. Before his medical career, Dr. Bliss studied ocean engineering at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and then served five years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force as a nuclear engineer.
3. Dr. Bliss completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., which was followed by a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery through the University of Cincinnati's Mary S. Stern Hand Surgery Foundation program in Cincinnati, Ohio.
4. Dr. Bliss is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
