Francis H. Shen, MD, is the Warren G. Stamp Endowed Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Charlottesville-based University of Virginia Health System.
With expertise in cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine surgery, Dr. Shen serves as the spine surgery division head within University of Virginia Health System's orthopedic surgery department.
Dr. Shen also specializes in degenerative conditions, spinal deformity, trauma, tumors and infections of the spine.
Dr. Shen has received the National Osteoporosis Foundation Award, North American Spine Society Research Award and Cervical Spine Research Society New Investigator Award, among others.
After earning his medical degree and completing his residency at University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Dr. Shen underwent fellowship training in orthopedic research at University of Virginia, spine surgery at Chicago-based Rush University and pediatric spinal deformity at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Chicago.
