The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery elected Douglas Lundy, MD, to serve as president.
Dr. Lundy will serve a one-year term.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Lundy is the co-president of Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics and a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon.
2. A member of the ABOS board since 2012, Dr. Lundy also served as the treasurer and chair of the ABOS Oral Examinations Committee.
3. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Atlanta and underwent orthopedic trauma and foot and ankle fellowship training at Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University. Dr. Lundy also earned an MBA from Auburn (Ala.) University.
4. The ABOS board of directors comprises 21 members, including 12 active directors, six senior directors, two director-elects and one public member director. The American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Medical Association nominate ABOS board members.
