Operation Walk Chicago and a team of orthopedic surgeons from Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem's NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute in Chicago traveled to Danag, Vietnam, to provide orthopedic care for patients Oct. 20-28.
Here are five notes:
1. Victoria Brander, MD, led the team of orthopedic surgeons to complete 35 joint replacement surgeries in partnership with Vinmec International Hospital in Danag.
2. Dr. Brander specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Additionally, she is co-founder and co-director of Operation Walk Chicago.
3. NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute surgeons who participated in the mission included Scott Cordes, MD, Lalit Puri, MD, and S. David Stulberg, MD, who also serves as co-founder and co-director of Operation Walk Chicago.
4. Phuc Vo, MD, of Lakeland, Fla.-based Watson Clinic and retired orthopedic surgeon William Gilligan, MD, also went on the mission.
5. The trip marked Operation Walk Chicago's fifth medical mission in Vietnam.
