John Bergfeld, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Bergfeld serves as director of the operating room in Cleveland Clinic's orthopedic surgery department.
With expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Bergfeld is a consultant surgeon for the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. He previously served as team physician for both organizations.
Dr. Bergfeld is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, among other professional organizations.
He is a former president of the AOSSM, ISAKOS and Herodicus Society. In 2009, Dr. Bergfeld was elected into AOSSM's Hall of Fame and designated Mr. Sports Medicine.
After earning his medical degree from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Dr. Bergfeld completed his residency and underwent orthopedic surgery fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic.
