Here are six orthopedic surgeons making the news this week.

Orthopedic surgeon Paul Burton, DO, of Redlands (Calif.) Community Hospital and Travis Scudday, MD, of Orange, Calif.-based Orthopaedic Specialty Institute completed a six-day mission performing joint replacement surgeries in Haiti.

Joan and Andy Fimiano Endowed Chair in Orthopedic Surgery for Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Memorial Hospital James Caillouette, MD, discussed his hospital's strategy for risk-based and bundled contracts. 

Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon Avi Kumar, MD, of Bradenton, Fla.-based Coastal Orthopedics provided his thoughts on innovation in orthopedics and what to consider when adapting a new device.

American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons President Chris Reeves, DPM, spoke to Becker's about value-based care in orthopedics and challenges for independent foot and ankle surgeons in 2019. 

John Uribe, MD, of Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute believes inlay glenoid implants are a "paradigm-changer" in shoulder surgery. Dr. Uribe delivered his insights on joint preservation in the era of value-based care in an interview with Becker's.
