Foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon Judith Baumhauer, MD, received the Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Foundation's 2019 Women's Leadership Award.
What you should know:
1. Dr. Baumhauer received the award for her work as an educator, mentor, clinician, researcher and humanitarian.
2. She currently serves as a professor, fellowship director, academic affairs chair and PROMIS medical director at the University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine.
3. Dr. Baumhauer became involved with American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society in 1993, working up the ranks until becoming the first female president of the organization in 2011. She has also held several leadership and committee positions.
