AAOS offers patients guidance on managing orthopedic care during COVID-19

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is pointing patients toward OrthoInfo.org for reliable and up-to-date information on managing orthopedic care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

AAOS recognizes the orthopedic care challenges patients are currently facing and hopes the consumer website can provide "accurate information, patient resources and trusted perspective," according to AAOS spokesperson Stuart Fischer, MD.

The website's "Ortho-pinion" blog addresses everything from the pandemic's effects on suspended elective surgeries to tips for treating bone and joint pain while sheltering in place.

Orthopedic experts provide guidance on several issues, including how to continue orthopedic care during the pandemic, what to do if your elective surgery is postponed and information on telehealth appointments.
