Ted Parsons, MD, has been appointed president of the American Orthopaedic Association, according to an Aug. 4 news release.
Dr. Parsons is a bone and musculoskeletal cancer specialist and chair of the department of orthopedics at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. He is also medical director for the health system's orthopedic service line.
AOA welcomed Dr. Parsons as president at its annual leadership virtual meeting in June.
Previously, he served as president of the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, president of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Parsons is a U.S. Air Force veteran and the only orthopedic surgeon to receive the Medical Corps' "Golden Headed Can Award" for outstanding physician, educator and researcher, according to the news release.
