Orthopedic trauma surgeon Lisa Cannada, MD, has joined Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., bringing more than 20 years of experience to the team at the level 3 trauma center.
Joining from the University of Florida Health in Jacksonville, Dr. Cannada is now providing care at the Novant Health Fracture Clinic in Charlotte and Novant Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Eastover, N.C.
She specializes in treating damaged extremities caused by motorcycle and car collisions and is an advocate for women pursuing careers in orthopedics or trauma surgery.
A former president of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Cannada edited its "Guide for Women in Orthopaedic Surgery" and is currently editing the society's "Guide for Medical Students in Orthopaedic Surgery."
She served as the first female chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Board of Directors' Board of Specialty Societies from 2017-2018 and has published more than 130 research papers and two textbooks.
