Doximity published its 2020 physician compensation report on Oct. 29, comparing average salaries for medical specialties.
In 2020, the national average compensation for physicians was $383,340, with specialties requiring advanced training and longer residencies, such as surgeons, seeing significantly larger salaries, according to the report.
Results were drawn from surveys completed from 2019 to 2020 by about 44,000 full-time physicians who practice at least 40 hours a week. Doximity, a networking site for medical professionals, noted that overall compensation was up 1.5 percent over the prior year.
