Two orthopedic surgeons from New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery comprise the first members of a medical advisory council created by Ametros, a company designed to help patients save money on ongoing medical expenses.
The council plans to leverage "medical expertise to ensure the injured individuals we serve have access to cost-effective and high-quality healthcare after settling their insurance claims," CEO Porter Leslie said in a Jan. 19 news release.
The first two council members are Benedict Nwachukwu, MD, and Riley Williams III, MD, co-founders and co-CEOs of BICMD, a telemedicine company that helps patients find orthopedic specialists.
Dr. Nwachukwu is co-director of research for HSS' sports medicine institute and Dr. Williams leads the group's sports medicine fellowship.
