Lynx Equity Limited, a Toronto-based private equity firm has invested in ArthroLense, a medical device company founded in 2019 by orthopedic surgeons Russell Nevins, MD, and David Backstein, MD.
ArthroLense is developing augmented and mixed reality-based surgical navigation systems. The company's initial products are designed for hip and knee replacement.
Instead of using touch screens and foot pedal controls, ArthroLense features "gestures and voice commands, an ideal configuration for busy surgeons, and particularly those operating at ambulatory surgical centers," Dr. Nevins said in a May 13 news release.
The surgeons said they will use the Lynx Equity investment to seek FDA approval and expand the company's intellectual property portfolio to prepare for global commercialization.
Terms of the investment were not disclosed.
