Conformis halts business, distribution in Russia

Orthopedic

Orthopedic devicemaker Conformis has suspended all distribution and business operations in Russia.

Conformis won't pursue future business opportunities in Russia or distribute to the country or any Russian-based entities until further notice, according to a March 2 news release.

The company recently entered into a distribution agreement in Russia. However, CEO Mark Augusti pointed to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine as the reason behind the business suspension.

"While we were looking forward to working with our agents and surgeons in Russia, we believe it is important that our business aligns with our values," Mr. Augusti said in the release. "Therefore, we have notified our representatives that we would not be starting our distribution operations in Russia. We will monitor this closely and look to resume development when appropriate."

Conformis follows the lead of other companies that have pulled services and business from Russia in the last week, including Shell, Ford and Apple.
