Orthopedic

University Hospitals will be the first health system in the Cleveland area to use the Mazor X Stealth Edition Robotic Guidance Platform for spinal surgery, the health system said in a March 7 news release.

The health system said the first procedure using the platform will take place at UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, on March 11. The procedure will be performed by Dustin Donnelly, MD, PhD. The platform will then be used at a later date at UH Cleveland Medical Center.

The surgical platform allows physicians to create a 3D simulation of the surgery using CT images of the patient. The platform's robotic arm also offers precise movements during the procedure.
