Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health on June 7 broke ground on a $161 million orthopedic hospital that spans 205,000 square feet, according to Sioux Falls Business.

The six-story facility will include 12 operating rooms, 19 inpatient rooms and 56 medical suites patients' families can use as hotel rooms.

Sanford aims to recruit 10 to 15 orthopedic surgeons in the next two to four years, according to the report.

"It's huge for us," Paul Hanson, president of Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, told the publication. "This type of investment is going to assist us in our recruitment effort going forward."

Sanford Orthopedic Hospital is expected to open in the fall of 2025.
