Exactech's Predict+ software earned a U.S. patent, the devicemaker said Nov. 9.
Predict+ is a machine learning-based software that aims to predict individual patient outcomes in shoulder replacement surgery, according to a company news release. It was released in November 2020.
Surgeons use Predict+ to input as few as 19 data points about a patient, and the software predicts outcomes including pain, function and range of motion.
"This granted patent strengthens Exactech’s leadership position in the orthopedic applications of artificial intelligence and features several broad claims which cover future innovations and expands Exactech’s intellectual property portfolio," Exactech Senior Vice President Chris Roche said in the release.
