Douglas Dirschl, MD, will be chair of orthopedics at Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine effective April 1, 2023.
Dr. Dirschl will join from the University of Chicago where he is chair of orthopedic surgery, according to a Nov. 16 news release from Baylor. He joined the University of Chicago in 2013, and before that, he spent 10 years as orthopedic chair at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill.
He is a recognized leader, fracture surgeon and advocate for bone health. He was president of the American Orthopaedic Association form 2011 to 2012 and was honored asn an ABC Traveling Fellow in 2001.
Dr. Dirschl succeeds William Granberry, MD, who was interim orthopedic chair at Baylor.
