Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and Bayonne, N.J.-based CarePoint Health's partnership celebrated the completion of its first complex case at Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center, ROI-NJ reported Nov. 23.
Neurosurgeon Michael Smith, MD, performed a complex spine procedure under the partnership, which was announced in 2021, the report said. The duo cemented a 10-year partnership and plans to create an orthopedic Center of Excellence at Hoboken University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
"This kind of success so early in the Rothman Orthopaedics and CarePoint partnership is exactly what we envisioned when we established this relationship," Rothman CEO Christopher Olivia, MD, said in the report. "The treatment and services patients will receive at Rothman, coupled with CarePoint's mission to ensure they receive consistent, equitable and localized care, is why this is an ideal collaboration for both parties as well as the community."
