Hospital for Special Surgery reaches 16,500 cases with handheld orthopedic navigation device

Orthopedic

New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery has used the OrthAlign navigation device in 16,500 joint replacements.

The device is handheld and is used for component positioning in total and partial hip and knee repalcements, OrthAlign said in a Dec. 5 news release. OrthAlign weighs seven ounces and is a single-use device. It comes in a single tray and can shorten operating room time and reduce patient and surgeon costs.

Twenty-five surgeons at HSS use the technology.
