Baltimore, Md.-based Ascension Saint Agnes has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification, according to a Dec. 15 report from the Catholic Review.
It is one of only four hospitals in the state that has received the distinction, according to the report.
The certification is awarded based on the whole joint replacement process, from pre operation to post operation. Ascension underwent an onsite review from the Joint Commission that evaluated several compliance standards.
"This achievement reflects our expertise, dedication and commitment to our patients undergoing total joint replacements at Ascension Saint Agnes," Brandi Blevins, MD, told the Review. "We have always known we had a high achieving program and this distinction has validated that for us."
