Southern Maryland Orthopedics plans to open a new 59,000-square-foot location with a medical office building and an ASC in Leonardtown, Md., according to a Dec. 19 report from Southern Maryland News.
The facility petitioned the Leonardtown city council on Nov. 12 for approval for the practice. The two-story building would house the ASC and office building on the second floor, and would have a 5,000-square-foot daycare facility for staffers' children.
The city would need to perform an $18.1 million expansion of the wastewater treatment facility to support the practice.
Southern Maryland Orthopedics currently employs nearly 100 workers at its existing locations and will add more at the new facility.
