Steadman Clinic is a Vail, Colo.-based orthopedic clinic that was founded by J. Richard Steadman, MD, who died Jan. 20 at the age of 85. Here are six things to know about the pioneering practice:
1. Dr. Steadman founded the clinic in 1990 and was chair emeritus.
2. Dr. Steadman also co-chaired the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, founded in 1988.
3. The clinic has treated at least 45 NFL players, 23 MLB players and eight NBA players.
4. Steadman has 20 physicians on staff, trained in knee, foot and ankle, wrist and hand, sports medicine, pain medicine and more.
5. Steadman recently tapped orthopedic spine surgeon Sonny Gill, MD, for its growing team.
6. Steadman surgeon Michael Gallizzi, MD, recently logged his 100th endoscopic spine surgery.
