Alfonso Mejia, MD, was appointed chair of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ Board of Councilors.
He has been active AAOS volunteer leader for more than 30 years and is a past president of the Illinois Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, according to a March 9 news release. Dr. Mejia will assume his new role after the AAOS 2023 Annual Meeting.
He is vice head of orthopedic surgery and a hand surgeon at the University of Illinois Chicago.
