Keith Meister, MD, performed shoulder surgery on Texas Rangers pitcher Jake Odorizzi on April 5 in Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Odorizzi was experiencing arm fatigue during the off-season and spring training. The team exhausted all nonsurgical options before going forward with surgery, according to an April 7 report by mlb.com.
Dr. Meister performed an arthroscopic debridement procedure on Mr. Odorizzi's right shoulder.
Rangers General Manager Chris Young said the surgery will cause Mr. Odorizzi to miss the entire 2023 Major League Baseball season.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at Arlington-based Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine and is the head team physician for the Rangers.
