The Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Foundation named Holly Johnson, MD, and Casey Humbyrd, MD, as the recipients of two women's leadership awards, according to an April 28 news release.
Dr. Johnson received the career impact award, which is awarded to women who have made significant contributions to orthopedic foot and ankle surgery. She serves as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
Dr. Humbyrd received the career development award, which is given to female orthopedic early- and mid-career foot and ankle orthopedic surgeons who have shown professional aspirations and commitment. She serves as the chief of foot and ankle division and is the founder of the program in surgical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
The leadership awards are part of the AOFAS Women's Leadership Initiative, which was established in 2018 to support and encourage women in the field, the release said.
