Taylor Lewan, who was a lineman for the Tennessee Titans, is suing the physician who operated on him in 2020, the NFL player said in a May 2 tweet.
Mr. Lewan is suing James Andrews, MD; Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Health Care; and the Andrews Institute ASC in Gulf Breeze, Fla., USA Today reported May. 4.
The NFL player alleges an ACL surgery he had in 2022 led to "permanent injury to his right knee, and surrounding structures, tendons, cartilage and ligaments." Mr. Lewan alleges his career was cut short because of the surgery.
In 2022 he went back to playing but tore the same ACL that year, and the Titans cut him, according to USA Today.
A spokesperson with the Andrews Institute told Becker's they were "unable to comment on individual patients or pending litigation."
