Dr. Mary Mulcahey named division director of sports medicine at Loyola

Loyola Medicine in Maywood, Ill. named Mary Mulcahey, MD, division director of sports medicine.

Dr. Mulcahey is a sports medicine surgeon who preciously worked at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Loyola said in a May 17 news release. At Tulane, she was director of the women's sports medicine program.

"She is an internationally recognized expert in sports medicine caring for the professional athlete and those of us who simply want to stay active in sports at any age," Alexander Ghanayem, MD, chair of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation at Loyola Medicine, said in the release. "She is especially attuned into the unique needs of women athletes. The greater Chicago community will benefit from her expertise."

Dr. Mulcahey was one of four orthopedic surgeons to be chosen for the Arthroscopy Association of North America Advanced Arthroscopy Traveling Fellowship. She earned her medical degree at University of Rochester (N.Y.) School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her residency at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, R.I.
