Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health has appointed hand and wrist surgeon Thomas Hunt, MD, as its vice president and chief physician executive of musculoskeletal medicine.
Dr. Hunt is an orthopedic educator and has published numerous articles, book chapters and textbooks. He has also designed unique surgical implants for wrist fracture fixation, according to a July 17 press release.
Previously, he held leadership positions at the University of Alabama Birmingham, Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston, and Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health's Texas division.
In the role, Dr. Hunt will create and implement vision, strategic direction and operations of all orthopedic services. He will support Lee Health's leaders, team members, medical staff and independent physicians.
He will also work with private orthopedic practices in Southwest Florida to design treatment strategies focused on quality, safety, clinical outcomes and patient experience.
He began his new role on June 30, according to the release.
