Missoula (Mont.) Bone, Joint and Surgery Center added a new orthopedic trauma surgeon, Richard Myers, MD, to provide severe injury treatment that was previously only available out of state, according to an Aug. 29 report from Bitterroot Star.
Patients experiencing difficult-to-treat or multiple severe injuries in the region previously had to travel hundreds of miles for the closest available treatment.
Dr. Myers specializes in complex joint replacement, limb salvage, tendon repairs and reconstruction, bone infection treatment and fracture work. Dr. Myers began providing care to patients on Aug. 28, and the surgery center has already seen significant growth in appointments and expects additional referrals from across Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, according to the report.
