Lamar Jackson, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, has been named the highest paid NFL player of 2023, with an $81.5 million contract, according to a Sept. 10 report from Forbes.
Forbes named the 10 highest-paid players by calculating on-field earnings including base income and bonuses paid in 2023 or in connection with contracts for the 2023 season.
Here are the head orthopedic physicians of the teams the highest-paid stars play for:
1. Lamar Jackson, $81.5 million, plays for the Baltimore Ravens, who are cared for by Andrew Tucker, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at MedStar Orthopedics in Timonium, Md.
2. Patrick Mahomes, $60.5 million, plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are cared for by J. Paul Schroeppel, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Sports Medicine and Performance Center in Overland Park, Kan. In 2021, Mr. Mahomes was also operated on by Robert Anderson, MD.
3. Nick Bosa, $52 million, plays for the San Francisco 49ers, who are cared for by orthopedic surgeon Timothy McAdams, MD, who practices at Stanford Health Care in Redwood City, Calif.
4. Aaron Rodgers, $47.9 million, plays for the New York Jets, who are cared for by Damion Antonio Martins, MD, a physical medicine, rehabilitation and sports medicine physician in Morristown, N.J.
5. Daniel Jones, $47.5 million, plays for the New York Giants, who are cared for by Scott Rodeo, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
6. Deshaun Watson, $46.5 million, plays for the Cleveland Browns, who are cared for by James Voos, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at UH Cleveland Medical Center. In 2017, Mr. Watson was also operated on by Walt Lowe, MD.
7. Joe Burrow, $45 million, plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, who are cared for by Marc Galloway, MD, a sports medicine specialist at Mercy Health in Cincinnati.
8. Dak Prescott, $44 million, plays for the Dallas Cowboys, who are cared for by Daniel Cooper, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas.
9. Kyler Murray, $42.5 million, plays for the Arizona Cardinals, who are cared for by Gary Waslewski, MD, a sports medicine specialist at the Orthopedic Surgery Center of Arizona in Scottsdale.
10. Russell Wilson, $41 million, plays for the Denver Broncos, who are cared for by Martin Boublik, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at UCHealth in Englewood, Colo.
