Keith Meister, MD, is set to perform Tommy John surgery on Jasson Domínguez, an outfielder for the New York Yankees, on Sept. 20.
The operation is to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in Mr. Domínguez's elbow. The procedure could also include an internal brace, according to a Sept. 14 news release from mlb.com.
The injury was traced back to a Sept. 3 game and got progressively worse as Mr. Domínguezreceived treatment.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone estimated a 9 to 10 month recovery timeline, the report said.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
