De La Vina Surgicenter in Santa Barbara, Calif. added Lazurite's ArthroFree wireless surgical camera, the medtech company said Sept. 20.
The ASC is the first in southern California to add the device, which is designed for arthroscopic procedures, according to a news release.
The ArthroFree camera doesn't need cords and eliminates a source of distraction during procedures. Orthopedic surgeon Chris Proctor, MD, is trained to use the device at the ASC.
"We’ve been impressed by the ArthroFree System," Dr. Proctor said in the release. "Not having wires around makes for a safer and more efficient operating room. The staff loves it because it’s quicker to set up and take down. I think wireless is the future."
