Keith Meister, MD, performed Tommy John elbow surgery on Riley Greene, an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers, on Sept. 20 in Dallas.
The procedure was performed on Mr. Greene's right elbow, his non-throwing elbow, after he injured it during a game on Sept. 1, according to a Sept. 20 report by espn.com.
The Tigers expect that Mr. Greene will make a full recovery and be ready to return to play by the start of the 2024 MLB season.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
