Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeast Orthopedics Specialists is keeping a close eye on the trend of healthcare moving out of traditional settings and into the medical office building and ASC space, according to an Oct. 31 report from the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Recently, the practice obtained a permit for a $1.3 million, 10,000-square-foot build out at its Riverside, Fla., property for ancillary service use.
According to the practice's CEO, Donnie Romine, the company gets approached about medical office building opportunities consistently as many specialists, specifically orthopedics, continue to move away from hospitals.
"We partner with hospitals. But more and more we're seeing services moving to an outpatient setting. That's been our strategy for several years now," Mr. Romine told the Journal.
The practice currently has 10 clinical locations and two more in development. It is also setting up a satellite location expected to be operational in January.
The system aims to continue growing in Florida, moving further north and further south over the next few years.
