Medtech company Surgical Planning Associates' mixed-reality HipInsight System has been used in its 3,000th case.
The system's milestone case was a total hip arthroplasty performed at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
It is the first FDA-cleared, patient-specific mixed-reality surgical guidance system, according to a Feb. 13 press release.
It provides surgeons with 3D models of a patient's anatomy and planned component placement inside the patient during the procedure.
Surgical Planning currently has a multiyear co-marketing agreement with Zimmer Biomet for HipInsight.
