Orthopedic surgery is one of the highest-paying specialties in the U.S., according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The federal agency released updated salary information to reflect 2023 data April 3.

Here is how orthopedic surgeon pay compares to the average annual salaries of 14 other physician specialties:

Orthopedic surgeon, except pediatric: $378,250

Neurologist: $271,470

Dermatologist: $342,860

Pathologist: $270,560

Emergency medicine physician: $306,640

Ophthalmologist, except pediatric: $312,120

Anesthesiologist: $339,470

Psychiatrists: $256,930

Obstetricians and gynecologist: $278,660

Cardiologist: $423,250

Radiologist: $353,960

General internal medicine physicians: $245,450

Surgeons, all other: $343,990

Dentist: $191,750

Physicians, all other: $248,640
