Major League Baseball
- Los Angeles Angels player Mike Trout is set to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.
National Basketball Association
- Minnesota Timberwolves basketball coach Chris Finch underwent knee surgery on May 1 to repair a ruptured right patellar tendon following a sideline collision at an April 28 game.
National Hockey League
- Jonathan Glashow, MD, and Guillem Gonzalez-Lomas, MD, operated on New Jersey Devils forward Timo Meier.
- Keith Meister, MD, operated on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.
NASCAR
- NASCAR driver Erik Jones was taken to UAB University Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., after suffering a compression fracture in a lower vertebra in his spine following a crash at Talladega Superspeedway.
World Wrestling Entertainment
- WWE star Braun Strowman underwent spinal fusion surgery for his C4 and C5 vertebrae at Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine.
