The 21 medical schools participating in 2024's Diversity in Sports Medicine initiative

In May 2022, the National Football League launched a program to diversify the population of students interested in sports medicine and orthopedics, offering students from historically Black colleges and universities the opportunity to complete a clinical rotation with NFL clubs. 

In 2022, the program worked with four colleges and universities. By 2023, it expanded to 19 medical school partners. 

This year, the program will reach 21 medical schools and 29 NFL teams

The 21 participating universities:

2. Howard University College of Medicine (Washington, D.C.) 

3. Morehouse School of Medicine (Atlanta) 

4. Meharry Medical College (Nashville, Tenn.) 

5. Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (Cleveland)

6. Georgetown University School of Medicine (Washington, D.C.)

7. Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (Grand Rapids)

8. Sidney Kimmel Medical College-Jefferson Medical (Philadelphia) 

9. Stanford (Calif.) University Medical School

10. University at Buffalo's (N.Y.) Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences

11. University of Kansas School of Medicine (Kansas City)

12. University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine

13. University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

14. McGovern Medical School at University of Texas Health Houston

15. Wake Forest University School of Medicine (Winston-Salem, N.C.) 

16. University of Illinois College of Medicine (Chicago)

17. University of California Irvine School of Medicine
