OhioHealth taps chief of musculoskeletal services

Orthopedic

Columbus-based OhioHealth has created the role of chief of musculoskeletal services and tapped Darrin Bright, MD, to step into the role.

Dr. Bright will oversee orthopedic surgery, nonsurgical orthopedics and sports medicine and primary care teams, according to a July 31 news release from the health system.

"When you look at the MSK space within OhioHealth, we see several independent practices that came together over time gradually becoming larger and larger groups. We've really gotten to the point where we can no longer function independently and need to work together," Dr. Bright said in the release.

He said he aims to make it easier for patients to navigate care and find the right location for them to be treated.

Dr. Bright originally worked in private practice, establishing Max Sports Medicine, which ultimately merged with OhioHealth in 2009.

He most recently served as the medical director for sports medicine and primary care and co-chair for the OhioHealth sports medicine advisory committee.
