10 orthopedic leadership moves surgeons are watching

Here are 10 orthopedic surgeons that have recently taken on leadership roles, as reported by Becker's since June 26:

1. Columbus-based OhioHealth tapped Darrin Bright, MD, for the newly created role of chief of musculoskeletal services.

2. Lisa Lattanza, MD, was appointed Ensign Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine. 

3. Peter DeLuca, MD, was named head orthopedic physician for the Philadelphia Eagles for the team's 2024 season. 

4. The University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore appointed Frank Henn, MD, as chair of the Department of Orthopedics.

5. New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery appointed David Backstein, MD, as medical director of HSS at NCH Healthcare in Naples, Fla.

6. Christopher Kaeding, MD, stepped into the role of president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

7. Hospital for Special Surgery named Constantine Demetracopoulos, MD, as chief of foot and ankle service.

8. Valentin Antoci, MD, was appointed as division chief of arthroplasty of the department of orthopedics at Lifespan and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, both based in Providence, R.I. 

9. Brett Owens, MD, was named division chief of sports medicine for the department of orthopedics at Lifespan and the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

10. Providence-based Ortho Rhode Island CEO Michael Bradley, MD, was named chief medical officer for the newly combined Spire Orthopedic Partners and Ortho RI.
